Professional Biography

As an experienced practitioner of integrative medicine, she blends the best of conventional and natural medicine to care for her patients.

Her focus in medicine is on where the outside world meets the body, particularly digestion, immune function, hormonal balance and mental health, and taking an integrative approach to diagnosis and treatment to ensure her patients get the safest, most sustainable and most effective care possible.

This includes everything from standard lab tests and imaging, to evidence-based treatment plans that can include nutritional or pharmaceutical prescriptions, to acupuncture and biofeedback training for pain and stress management.

In general practice Dr. Marti evaluates and treats most standard primary care concerns, including colds and flues, heartburn and high cholesterol, and performs routine screening exams, including annual physicals and pap smears.

  • Hormonal balance

Clinical Philosophy and Experience

My philosophy of health is that in order to treat a person successfully, you must look to the mind, body, and spirit, as well as consider how the patient interacts with their environment and vice versa. One of my goals in working with patients is to help them change reactive patterns, whether on a physical or emotional level, to proactive and protective patterns that engender a healthy and fulfilling life.

My clinical philosophy has been shaped by a multitude of professional experiences. In addition to my two-year residency in naturopathic medicine, I have completed hundreds of hours of preceptorship with general and family medicine-oriented physicians, and physicians specializing in behavioral medicine and addiction treatment. I participated in the 2008 Betty Ford Center Summer Institute for Medical Students. I am certified as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, and have formal training in the use of acupuncture to address behavioral health problems, including addiction recovery and compulsive disorders.

Work-Life Balance

My interest in pain management and treating overuse injuries is partially inspired in part by a number of my recreational activities. These include: knitting, reading and participating in general fiction and science fiction book clubs, cooking and participating in a cookbook club, playing board and video games, running, and playing harp in Seirm, a Seattle-based ceilidh band.

Similarly, my commitment to providing great customer service stems from my pre-physician work experiences. My favorite of these being the many years spent working at independent bookstores, including the late, great Fremont Place Book Company.
