Naturopathic Medicine integrates global healing traditions with cutting-edge research. A Naturopathic physician is trained to find and address the cause of a person’s symptoms rather than simply suppress the symptoms.
Naturopathic physicians are trained in basic medical sciences, accurate diagnostic skills and the ability to apply the natural and minimally invasive methods. The scope of practice of naturopaths includes all aspects of family and primary care and all natural medicine modalities.
Balancing Health’s Naturopathic physicians are Dr. Serena McKenzie and Dr. Miranda Marti.
The Naturopathic Office Visit
In order to do this, a Naturopathic physician will typically spend about an hour with you on your first office visit in order to get a comprehensive picture of the patient, the symptoms, and the physical, emotional and/or spiritual contributing factors.
Lab work you have from a previous doctor’s office is always welcome and helpful in determining what may been explored. In addition this will give your Naturopathic physician an idea of what other things may need to be looked at.
Once all the necessary information is obtained, your Naturopathic physician will create an individualized treatment plan, which may include lifestyle, nutritional and/or botanical recommendations, designed to help you achieve your health goals.
Typical Cost of Visits:
The cost of a first time visit for naturopathic medicine is typically $150 – $300.
Follow up naturopathic medicine visits are typically $90 – $175.
Preventive medicine (annual exams and physicals) are typically $175.
Although many Naturopathic physicians are preferred providers for many insurance companies, coverage for alternative care varies from plan to plan. To check your coverage and benefits, please contact your insurance plan and ask about naturopathic coverage.
No Insurance or No Coverage for Naturopathic Medicine:
If you do not have insurance or if your insurance does not cover Naturopathic services, a 20% time-of-service discount is available to patients who pay for their visit on the same day they are seen.
